Pi Network has to navigate a tricky world of global rules about whether it’s a security, meeting anti-money laundering and KYC rules (which it’s working on), protecting user data (like GDPR), and how it’s taxed popular online casino. There isn’t much public info about thorough, independent security checks on Pi Network’s main system, which still makes some experts uneasy.
Pi Network represents an innovative approach to cryptocurrency mining accessibility, but its journey has been marked by both promise and controversy. As the project continues to evolve, its ultimate success will likely depend on addressing community concerns, maintaining transparency, and delivering on its core promises. For now, the question of whether Pi Network lives up to its hype remains open, with developments in early 2025 potentially proving crucial for its future direction.
More than 35 people are said to be on the Pi Core Team. While the founders have impressive backgrounds, whether the project truly succeeds will depend on if they can deliver on their lofty goals and if Pi coins become genuinely useful.
Hawk tuah girl cryptocurrency lawsuit
“All my comments, if you read those, people are like, ‘Oh, well, I lost a lot of money in this. Now my kids have to go without stuff.’ I don’t know. It makes me feel, like, really sorry for it,” Welch explained.
But earlier this month, disaster struck when Welch released $HAWK, a cryptocurrency based on her valuable personal brand. Such crypto assets, known as “meme coins,” are known as volatile investments, and tend to trade according to the boom-and-bust cycles of the online phenomena that inspire them. Welch’s coin, developed by partners running a foundation out of the Cayman Islands, spiked in value when it debuted only to crater within hours, plummeting more than 90 percent from a market cap of nearly $500 million to under $30 million.
Providing a grievance link, she added, “I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable, and resolve this matter. If you have experienced losses related to this, please contact Burwick Law using the link below.”
It lost more than 95 percent of its value in a single day when it was released on December 4. Lawyers for the investors wrote in their December 19 court filing that the lawsuit “arises from the unlawful promotion and sale of the Hawk Tuah cryptocurrency memecoin, known as the “$HAWK” token (the “Token” or “$HAWK”), which Defendants offered and sold to the public without proper registration.”
Welch became famous after she was filmed by YouTube creators using the onomatopoeic phrase “hawk tuah” to describe a spitting action used in a sexual context. She has since transformed her newfound fame into a successful merchandise line and the podcast Tuah Talk, where she has interviewed musician Wiz Khalifa and Shark Talk investor Mark Cuban.
The defendants will be given an opportunity to replay to the lawsuit and will likely seek a summary judgment in their favor. If the judge does not grant summary judgment, pretrial motions will begin. Plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and, if granted, a jury would decide damages if the lawsuit is successful.

Hot wallets tend to be a little easier to access and harder to lose since they tend to be on a frequently used computer or mobile device. They often take the form of a desktop client or browser extension, making them relatively easy to use.
Shiba Inu is a cryptocurrency which, at its creation in 2021, had no use or value. By the end of 2023, it was being used by traders in large volumes to take advantage of microscopic price movements and used as a payment method. Shiba Inu is continuously being developed and improved by a dedicated community to have utility and use cases, so it is possible that it will remain one of the more popular cryptocurrencies on the market.
Shiba Inu token (ticker: SHIB) is a decentralized cryptocurrency created in August 2020 by an anonymous person or group using the pseudonym “Ryoshi”. It is inspired by the Shiba Inu (柴犬), a Japanese dog breed, which also serves as the mascot for Dogecoin, another cryptocurrency with meme origins. Some categorize Shiba Inu as a “meme coin.” Concerns have been expressed about the concentration of the coin with a single “whale” wallet controlling billions of dollars’ worth of the token, and frenzied buying by retail investors motivated by fear of missing out (FOMO). Shiba Inu was introduced with a branding that positioned it as a potential ‘Dogecoin competitor’.
After months of sideways trading, SHIB rose sharply on Oct. 2, 2021, from $0.00000766 to $0.00002913 by Oct. 13. Two weeks later, SHIB recorded its current all-time high of $0.000089 on Oct. 28, although the market has since corrected again.
LEASH, or “Doge Killer”, was originally a rebase token pegged to dogecoin, where its supply was automatically adjusted by the protocol to keep its price in line with doge at a ratio of 1:1000. That is no longer the case today, as the rebasing algorithm was removed, meaning LEASH now acts as a store of value coin in the Shiba ecosystem with a limited supply of just 107,647 coins.
